Former Vice President Kamala Harris endorses LA Mayor Karen Bass for re-election

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- Former Vice President Kamala Harris has endorsed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass in her bid for re-election.

Bass is facing four major challenges in the race, as well as criticism over the way she handled the Palisades Fire last year.

Harris released a statement on Monday, which reads in part: "She has done what so many said couldn't be done - the first ever two-year decline in homelessness, reducing crime levels this city hasn't seen since the 1960s, and refusing to back down when the federal government came after our neighbors."
